M&M Cookies

In my family, Christmas = cookies.  It would not be Christmas without some M&M cookies.  As I have stated, I’m not really a baker…I just like to eat the food that has to be baked.  Most of those things are sweet, like these delicious cookies.  They are pretty straightforward & not too difficult to make.  Other than the possible addition of some pecans and mini chocolate chips, I actually don’t mess with this recipe.

I keep meaning to try this recipe sometime outside of Christmas, such as Valentine’s Day.  You could sub any other color of M&M and it would be a great appetizer or dessert.  I don’t know…there’s just something about Christmas & cookies…

Ingredients

1 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 1/2 cup flour
1 cup M&Ms, plus more for topping
1 cup mini chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans, optional

Directions

  • Cream sugar & butter with mixer in a large bowl.  Mix in vanilla & eggs.
  • In a separate bowl, combine salt, baking soda & flour.  Add flour mixture to other bowl and mix until blended.
  • Stir in M&Ms and chocolate chips (& pecans, if desired).
  • Roll dough into small balls.  Add 3 – 5 M&Ms to the top of each cookie.  Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10 – 12 minutes.

One batch is usually not enough.  Fortunately, my sister Jessica made several of these, so we all were able to have our fill this year…thanks, Jess:-)
